Richmond County VINELink Coverage
North Carolina's statewide service goes by NC SAVAN. The name is short for North Carolina Statewide Automated Victim Assistance and Notification. State guidance describes an automated system that ties local jails to Adult Correction functions. It covers prison, probation, and parole data where it applies. The service runs around the clock. Richmond County users can enter through NC SAVAN or the national VINELink portal.
The statewide model covers county jails. The published material does not confirm a live Richmond County feed at every moment. Search the live interface for Richmond County Jail and the person's name. A returned record backs the match. No result does not rule out an arrest. The person could still be at a precinct. He or she could have bonded out before jail intake. Or the person could be held somewhere the service does not track.
The official NC SAVAN entry page marks where North Carolina users start a custody search.

This is the state entry point, not an individual record. It does not promise that every recent Richmond County booking syncs instantly.
Check a Richmond County Arrest
Begin with the person's full name, spelled carefully. A middle name, suffix, age, or other permitted identifier helps separate people with similar names. The service may ask for North Carolina first. It may also want a custody type or a facility before results load. Compare every identifier you can before calling a result a match.
- Open NC SAVAN or VINELink and select North Carolina.
- Choose the applicable custody or facility option if prompted.
- Enter the person’s name or another identifier allowed by the form.
- Review possible matches and compare facility, identity details, and status.
- Open the matching record to see the custody event and alert choices.
When several records look alike, the name alone will not cut it. Check the Richmond County facility name, any listed identification number, and the status date. For a very recent arrest, take one more step. Weigh the result against the Richmond County 24 Hour Arrests path. The jail portal holds the booking record. VINELink handles status and notices after intake.
Court records carry the outcome. They show whether a charge was dismissed, reduced, resolved, or still sits pending.
Richmond Arrest Status Fields
A VINE result is built around custody. It may show just enough identity and facility detail to single out one person, along with the type of event the system logged. The live interface controls the fields, so labels can shift. A blank field is not a legal conclusion.
| Result field | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Name or identifier | Helps distinguish the searched person from similar names. |
| Custody status | Reports the latest status received by VINE, subject to lag. |
| Facility | Identifies the jail or corrections location tied to the event. |
| Status event | May identify release, transfer, escape, capture, or another change. |
| Notification option | Shows whether registration is available for that record. |
Custody status does not reveal the final court outcome. Release could mean bond, a finished hold, a transfer, or another process. It is not a dismissal. For the booking record, turn to the Richmond County recent arrests hub. For a disposition, consult the North Carolina court record. The national VINELink interface supplies the state selection, person search, and registration path.

The search screen fits one-person checks and notifications. It is not a gallery or a countywide photo list.
Note: A status reflects the newest event VINE received, so confirm urgent release or safety decisions with the responsible agency.
Register Richmond Custody Alerts
Registering costs nothing. Family, friends, concerned residents, and victims can all sign up for custody notices. Delivery may arrive by phone, text, or email, depending on the live record. NC SAVAN also takes phone registrations at 1-877-627-2826, or 1-877-NC SAVAN; press 0 for an operator, and language help is there. The Victim Support Services line sits separately at 1-866-719-0108.
- Confirm that the result belongs to the right person and facility.
- Select the notification option offered on that record.
- Choose an available phone, text, or email method.
- Provide the requested contact details and create a four-digit PIN.
- Save the PIN and follow the confirmation prompts.
- Register again if the person transfers to another participating facility.
A PIN manages automated calls and stops repeats once you confirm a notice. Routine calls tend to land in daytime or evening hours. Critical events and email can arrive at any hour. Keep voicemail, phone, and email details current. Registration stays confidential and anonymous as to the person in custody.
Alerts may cover release, transfer, escape, or capture. They may also cover a custody change or certain Adult Correction events. Court notices run narrower. NC SAVAN limits court-event notification to victims designated under state law through the district attorney. A general registration does not promise every hearing notice. The official NC SAVAN FAQ lays out registration, support, alerts, and coverage limits.

This state guidance is the best place to verify alert rules when options shift.
Why Richmond Alerts Need Rechecking
One arrest can span several systems. County intake, state custody, federal custody, and immigration detention each keep separate records in Richmond County. A transfer can break the old registration's practical link. NC SAVAN advises registering again after any move. One person may pass through more than one. No alert service replaces a real safety plan. Automated notices depend on agency data and working phone lines. A delayed message, a full voicemail box, a changed number, or a facility move can all interrupt notice. Keep the PIN close, re-verify registration after a transfer, and fall back on the 24-hour phone line when the website fails.
- Booking
- The jail intake process that creates a custody record after an arrest.
- Transfer
- A move from one holding agency or facility to another.
- Custody status
- The latest confinement or release state reported to VINE.
- Disposition
- The court’s later resolution of a charge, which VINE does not decide.
Richmond VINELink Search Limits
VINELink is not the Richmond County Jail booking database. Results can lag while intake paperwork and data synchronization finish. Precincts, juvenile facilities, and mental-health facilities are not covered. Someone who bonded out before reaching a participating jail may not appear either. A blank search can mean several things. Federal custody sits outside the system. The Federal Bureau of Prisons locator covers federal prison, while many federal pretrial placements need confirmation from the responsible agency. Immigration custody works differently. Detainees show up through the DHS VINE service and the ICE detainee locator, both separate from Richmond County Jail. Start with the official Richmond County Jail portal. Then call the Richmond County Sheriff's Office main line at (910) 895-3232 and ask for the jail records desk or the records custodian. The official jail page lists the Jail Administrator number, (910) 997-8248. For a copy, ask which office holds the booking record or image and identify the request as a North Carolina public-records request.
A missing VINE result proves nothing. Treat time-sensitive custody questions as open until Richmond County Jail or the holding agency confirms them.
Note: The Richmond County sheriff's office lists no official mobile app, and any Richmond County, Georgia results belong to a different jurisdiction.
